The sequel to the blockbuster Drishyam starring Mohanlal, Meena, Asha Sharath, directed by Jeetu Joseph is out on OTT.
The movie is more of a narrative with very little scope for performances. When the story takes the lead the script must be flawless. In this case , it almost is. But to an audience that was left baffled and open-mouthed to the climax of Drishyam, the storyline of the sequel is a huge let down , the narrative worse. While it keeps one engaged and anxious throughout the movie with intercepted lags, the climax and the story line makes one wonder if the sequel was even required. Some gems must be left untouched.
With a master performer like Mohanlal the movie is worth a watch. With hardly much scope for performing, he is himself flawless . Asha Sharath , does a re- enactment of her Drishyam role reminding her icy ways to us. It is endearing to watch the little girl Anumol, played by Esther Anil who is now a teenager. Her role which was utterly powerful in the first part is intriguing in this part too. However her role in the storyline abruptly ends and leaves one wondering why. Anjali Nair as Sarita, the neighbour is worth a mention.
Director, writer Jeetu Joseph could have created another blockbuster, if he had used the same plot for a different storyline. He has worked very hard to create a tough puzzle. But how does one beat one’s own self at his own game? More so when u have outdone yourself.
