One Page Spotlight Workshop Series: Meet The Young Sorcerer Who Seeks Magic Everyday

Banker-turned-magician who starred in Rakshit Shetty’s Avane Srimannarayana

Based in Bangalore, Tharun Iyer is a magician whose incredible and highly-interactive performances are most talked about. Tharun developed an interest in illusions and magic when he was as young as 15. “As a child, I had many hobbies like singing, playing sports, etc. I grew up in Gujarat back then and eventually moved to Chennai. As I was new in Chennai, I didn’t know what to do in my free time, and hence, I spent that time watching a show called The Virtual Magician. From then, I grew an affinity towards magic and started practising many tricks.”

Tharun is a banker-turned-magician who left his job to pursue his passion of giving stage performances and enticing people with his magic tricks. “I reached a point where I found it challenging to simultaneously manage work and give performances that were lined up. That’s when I decided to leave my full-time job and dedicate my 100% to performing.” Tharun believes that this is a great tip for aspiring artists who wish to understand the right time to quit their full-time jobs in order to embrace their passion.

Tharun has given countless stage and close-up performances where his charm and ability to keep the audience engaged has been the highlight of his shows. He makes sure that everyone gets a chance to experience magic first-hand and above everything else are made to feel comfortable. Whether it’s a reception, corporate event or a cocktail party, Tharun has a way with his audience which is surely anything but mundane. Some of his clients are Infosys, Cognizant, HSBC, ITC Limited, Siemens and many more. Tharun has also worked as a consultant illusionist for the movie Avane Srimannarayana starring Rakshit Shetty.

The young magician carries a great deal of experience and talent, and his story is almost reminiscent of magic shows that we all grew up watching and still continue to be in awe of. Performers like Tharun are an example that the world is our playground and the definition of an ideal job doesn’t really exist. But we do know what exists- lots of magic that is enough to make you believe in it.

Tharun Iyer is now on One Page Spotlight and has a lot of magic tricks up his sleeves. Follow him to stay updated.
